Welcome to my website!
Here is a bit of information about myself and my services:
I am a psychologist and psychotherapist having studied and trained in the UK, Austria and Switzerland. I am recognised by the Federation of Swiss Psychologists (FSP) as well as the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH). In the past 18 years I have worked in research, for children's protective services, for psychiatric services and family counselling services and in my own private practice.
My experience and interest lie predominantly in Systemic Therapy applying an integrative approach using ideas and methods from a range of psychotherapy schools such as Behavioural, Psychodynamic and Gestalt Therapy. I have also had additional training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. In our sessions it is vital to me that you as a client/patient feel comfortable working with me. The methods I employ depend on the situation and especially on the need of the individual, couple or family.
At times we can find ourselves stuck in a destructive cycle in our daily lives and in our relationships. Life can throw challenges at us that seem almost impossible to deal with. We might not see a way out of or through a situation. Negative thoughts and emotions overwhelm us. In those moments and situations it can be helpful to talk to a person outside it all, to get a different perspective, to explore alternative approaches of dealing with a problem, to better understand ourselves, to work on and improve our communication skills in our private and professional lives.
I offer counselling and psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families. My focus lies on couples and family therapy, particularly for couples and families who have come to Switzerland from abroad. Living and working abroad can be challenging and add extra stress to bringing up children and maintaining a loving relationship with our partner.
Counselling and psychotherapy sessions can take place in my practice or online from Tuesdays through to Fridays between 8:30am and 11:30am as well as Mondays from 1 to 7pm. In addition I offer session slots on two Saturdays per month.
As of July 2022 individual psychological psychotherapy is recognised via basic health insurance. In Canton Zurich the rate is CHF 154.80 per 60 minutes. You will need a referral from a GP or psychiatrist.
Couples Counselling is not usually recognised via health insurance (unless both partners have a mental health issue and referral from their doctor). I charge CHF 160 per 60 minutes for private Couples Counselling.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
